John Haywood
Slowly Fadin Away
Litt Carr, Kentucky
John was born in the hills of East Kentucky and has been a full time artist and musician for nearly a decade. He has chosen to make the mountains of East Kentucky his permanent home. John feels his artwork re-establishes the culture that made East Kentucky and tends away from main stream pop culture.
“The term landfill suggests garbage that fills a space. In East Kentucky, strip mining threatens to make a landfill of most of the area, but much of the mining is hid from view. In this painting, the strip mine is only seen from the junkyard where this hubcap could have come from. ”John Haywood
