With just weeks until Second Time Around: The Hubcap as Art opens September 7 at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV) in Winchester, Virginia, I am excited to post the list of artists whose work is included; congratulations to all! Thanks to the faculty of the Department of Art of Marywood University for jurying the object selection and to Woodward Bousquet from Shenandoah University for aiding with the exhibition’s environmental content. Click here to read the news release that the MSV is now sending, along with this list, to major media sources across the country.
Heads up, due to some email issues, the MSV has been unable to reach all artists whose work is in Second Time Around. If your name is on the list but you did NOT receive advance notice from the MSV, please send your updated contact information to mlee@museumword.com to receive an upcoming email with more information about the exhibition and traveling to and staying in Winchester.
The Preview Party from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday night, September 6, is free to Museum Members and just $15 per person for all others (including artists) to cover the costs of food; the party includes a cash bar. We hope for a huge turnout by artists to express support for the exhibition. Registration is required by September 3 at http://themsv.org/event/second-time-around-exhibition-preview. As an extra perk, all artists who make reservations for the Preview Party will ALSO be invited to a special VIP Preview Tour that I will lead with Museum Director Dana Hand Evans at 6 p.m. that night.
Can’t join us Saturday night? Then you may want to see the exhibition on Sunday, September 7; all exhibition artists will be admitted free to the MSV and exhibition the entire day.
Check out the one-minute video trailer promoting the exhibition, produced by Linda Agnelli, directed by Larry Carroll (a fellow Landfillart artist), and featuring voice-over by Kevin Yon and music by Mark Hadley of Visual Music. When Second Time Around opens, check back here to see the fabulous exhibition video that Larry also directed; it features interviews with several Landfillart artists and an original score by Ravi Krishnaswami of COPILOT Music + Sound. I join with the MSV in sending a heartfelt thanks to all these folks for donating their services for this exhibition.
