Maria Richardson

Mother Nurture (Now Look What You’ve Done)

Queensland, Australia

Maria calls herself a “change of life” artist. She has always had ideas, done drawings and dabbled in all manner of creative pursuits that were sculpturally inclined and finally decided to go to art school at the age of forty. Since then Maria has focused on art and has exhibited frequently. Her work focuses on the human condition, social issues and the relationship between the individual and society from a feminine and feminist standpoint. Wordplay and humor are important elements of her messages.

“I have previously been involved in public art with an environmental theme… My work focuses on people’s relationship to society which, I believe, includes our relationship to our planet. I think our relationship to nature says a lot about the current state of human nature…..and it’s none too flattering.”Maria Richardson
