Sophie Sejourne is a French artist who was born in Ile de Re and began her artistic career in La Rochelle, France. Over a 10 year period she exhibited with Galerie Ariane in Paris. She has studied in L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Poitiers and The Art Student League in New York City, where she currently works. Sejourne has shown widely throughout the United States, Europe, in Mexico, and Asia. Her paintings are part of several public and private collections.

“I have worked into my hubcap part of a postcard of the small island in France where I grew up. At that time the forest came right up to the edge of the shore. Since then, construction has replaced part of the forest, and my little island has been invaded by tourism. The yellow and red bands symbolize how growth and development pollute our world and leave us with black clouds.”Sophie Sejourne
