Alicia has a B.A. and M.F.A. in fiction writing, but after short story publications in small literary presses and literary awards, she returned to her first passion- painting. She has been actively painting since the turn of the millennium. She works with acrylic paint and media, including digital printing on unconventional materials. Alicia has begun incorporating “artful junk” or reusable material that otherwise would have been thrown away into her artwork.
“As an artist, I am concerned about what my art introduces into the world- both creatively in the produced artwork but also what is castoff from the process itself. My challenge for this project was to reduce the amount of castoff to zero. For example, any paper towels and dried paint were incorporated into the piece. Water was filtered and reused for brushes. ”Alicia Harvey
