End of the Road
Acclaimed sculptor Bernie Jestrabek-Hart, a graduate of BSU, creates custom metal and barbed wire sculptures for collectors throughout the world. She creates with steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, as well as barbed wire. Bernie sculpts in many different styles, a multitude of subjects and sizes, from monumental works for landmarks and school mascots, and for home and garden, to tiny sculptures and pieces of jewelry. She was co-awarded with Bob Gerdes, the Caldwell Fine Arts Excellence in Fine Arts Award. This is the first time in the 48 years of this association's existence that this award was given to a metal sculptor. Her book, entitled, ”Creating Realistic Works with Barbed Wire,” is now available and is an explicit tutorial, sharing her personal techniques for using the medium of barbed wire and has sold all over the world. She offers lessons and workshops.
“I was honored when asked to participate in the Landfillart Project. Much of my work is from recycled materials. What fun to come up with an idea for a hubcap. After receiving my hubcap I had to mull things over for some time before I came up with an idea that I got excited to do. It took several months to complete this project, to get it just right. I reworked it several times and now I like what it evolved into. Enjoy!”Bernie Jestrabek-Hart
