Eleanor Blair

Waccasassa River Palms

Gainesville, Florida

Eleanor graduated from The Cooper Union for the advancement of science and art in NYC. She is a well-known member of the art community in Gainesville; exhibiting her work in local art festivals, performing on stage with the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra and working in her studio/gallery downtown. Eleanor paints in oil on canvas. Her work combines visual accuracy with painterly brush work and rich color. Florida landscape is her primary subject, but her portraits, still life, interiors and architectural studies demonstrate her fine draftsmanship and sense of light.

“I participated in a similar project here in Gainesville a few years ago. A group of local artists turned old hubcaps into amazing pieces of art to benefit services to the homeless. It seems like a good idea to me; to find a new use for old unused things, to raise awareness of the problems we all face, and to suggest solutions with wit and creativity.”Eleanor Blair
