Greet Weitenberg

Mini

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Greet started working with the medium mosaic after being a teacher, a musician and a ceramic artist. This medium gives her the best opportunity to express her thoughts and what goes on in the world. In the centre of Amsterdam she has a mosaic studio/gallery/shop where she also teaches different classes of learning how to create a mosaic in her school “De MozaiekAcademie.” In January 2010 was the release of the book “De kunst van het mozaieken” which Greet wrote together with Marcelo de Melo. Greet’s work has been exhibited in the Netherlands and England, her work is in private collections in the United States, Israel, Germany and England.

“When I was invited to participate in this project immediately I was enthusiastic to work on a hubcap. I have seen so many hubcaps laying on roads; the cars are ‘giving’ them to nature to lay there in beautiful nature. I wanted to give nature to the hubcap and also give the hubcap back to a car, a mini cooper (my favorite car, owned by my very tall aunt when I was a child.)”Greet Weitenberg
