John Adams was born in 1963. He grew up in the costal locations of Dun Laoire and Bray in Dublin, Ireland. He was educated under the traditional regime of the Presentation Brothers. He spent 4 years studying art at the National College of Art and Design and the Dun Laoire College of Art and Design - Dublin, the Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork and the Limerick College of Art and Design, Limerick. He moved to London in 1985 and spent 6 years drumming with the heavy Blues band, "The Craw Daddys" during which time he also was the curator of the Cooltan Art gallery in South London. He has painted sets for theatre, television and film, for some of the most prestigious theatre and film companies in the world in London, Paris and Spain including The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Barbican Theatre, The New Shakespeare Company Regents Park, Pinewood Studios and The Walt Disney Company. On returning to Ireland in 1996 John relocated to Cork. Inspired by the 1995 London Southwark Open, one of the largest exhibitions ever held in London (over 650 artists) and which he was the co-curator of, he founded the Cork Art Trail together with artist Suzy O'Mullane. While actively campaigning for the arts, he has always worked as a fulltime professional artist .There is vibrant color in all his work and while the themes have changed over the last 10 years he has always maintained a strong connection with nature.
