Karen, originally from Grand Island, Nebraska, lived and worked in various Midwestern cities before moving to Pennsylvania in 1993. She returned to school in 1994 to study fine arts—she took a chance at finding her voice.
“I’ve always loved using salvaged objects in my own art… a reclaimed hubcap turned into a perfect circular 'metal canvas'. Using many personal items from my own live, I find a satisfying challenge creating a piece of art that connects my own past & present, but will connect me to the future and to others in an uplifting of our common humanity.”Karen Poels
