Phil, a working artist, was born, raised and currently resides in Topeka, Kansas. He undertook his undergraduate work at Washburn University, Topeka, where he received his BFA with honors and awards, including a purchase award from The Mulvane Art Museum in 2002. Phil continued his education at American University, Washington, D.C. where he received his Masters of Fine Arts in painting in December 2005.
"My acceptance of participation in the landfill art project upon being presented the opportunity was a non issue. The initiative fits seamlessly into my work of late which focuses primarily on spending time, finding beauty, and bringing forth to the viewer the simple and fantastic world around us that we primarily over look and / or take for granted."Phil Stevens
