Gayle Koyanagi

Hub ‘A Hell

Vancouver, Canada

Gayle obtained her BFA in visual arts from Emily Carr University I Vancouver B.C., Canada and also earned a BA in art History from the University of British Columbia. Her sculptural pieces, installations, painting, and written work have been exhibited in Canada and the United States. Gayle's art practice is driven by a need to give voice to other bodies and an obsession with found objects as materials.

“I am a chronic garbage collector with an affinity for the abject quality of detritus. Junk is in my blood. Most of my materials consist of discarded objects from my own living space and the grounds of my neighborhood. I am also a dedicated animal advocate who recognizes that environmental and animal rights issues are not mutually exclusive. After viewing the collection of pieces in your online gallery, I knew I had to be a part of this tremendous effort. It’s encouraging to see the increasing number of artist who use recycled material in their art making!”Gayle Koyanagi
