What We'll Lose

West Kingston, Rhode Island

A career as an artist was the last thing Susi expected. As a Critical Care RN she worked to support and raise her six children alone and loved the work. In 2001, after a serious spinal injury she was no longer able to work and also learned she was allergic to narcotics; her sister sent her a box of student-grade art supplies to occupy her mind and assist with pain management, and a new career was born. Susi has won three international awards for her paintings, appears on New England's PBS yearly both as Guest Art Auctioneer and as Guest Artist; she had been featured in several North East regional magazines and newspapers and has appeared on multiple cable TV shows.

"The Landfillart Project was a no-brainer. I have been committed to re-purposing for many years. I am very proud of this project and hope Ken will launch other ways for artists to use unlikely objects to create Art. These projects not only engender a new aesthetic but serve as a much needed passive consciousness raiser of environmental issues for the viewing public."Susi Franco
