Vivienne King

Vivienne is a self-taught artist, starting late in life after a career as a Microbiologist and mother of 2 boys. She began in her forties, studying privately at the Ruth Prowse Art school in Cape Town. She was part of an artist's co-operative, involved in the “upliftment” of underprivileged artists. Vivienne attended Tupelo program workshops and participated in the resultant exhibition held at the National Gallery in Cape Town. She has exhibited at the Association of Visual Arts, the Cape Gallery, the VEO Gallery and Quincy's in Cape Town. Vivienne’s also been involved in the performance arts, as a singer for Artscape Opera chorus and is a member of the South African Society of Artists since 2000, showing work every year in their prestigious annual exhibitions.
