“At first, Landfillart’s mission puzzled me. The idea, however, of being part of a group of international artists, working toward the same goal was enticing. I also like the fact that Ken Marquis gave me free rein to do whatever I envisioned with my hubcaps. Hubcaps in my mind meant wheels and wheels meant cars. Although I had no idea of whether I would end up with a cartoonish car, a futuristic one, or a sailboat on wheels, the challenge of creating an unplanned piece, and encountering drastic changes on the way, felt wonderful. The finishes project of ‘Elisa’s Wheels’ is exactly the type of car that, one day, I’d love to drive. ”Elisa B. Chalem
